Fantastic! The beautiful team, the location.

Amazing staff, very kind, accommodating and proactive from checkin to checkout, delectable breakfast, the dinner surprise was amazing and appreciated. Also, thank you very much for the room upgrade. A very peaceful place

Mini toothpastes could be added in the rooms, and please also double check the top of the mosquito nets. Everything else was great.

We enjoyed the place , beach and environment Also, the staff is very nice, always smiling and helping The food was healthy and delicious , every day, there was a different buffet. Great place in a small, quite and cozy resort.

Nice little quiet resort with amazing staff that always make you feel welcome and at home. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The gardens and the beach bar are amazing. A wonderful place to spend a few nights in Zanzibar if you prefer a small cozy resort.

It isn't the best beach to swim at and it isn't the best location, however, there are many ways of getting around so it's easy to go around the island to other beaches (Which are usually quite busy) and there is a tour guide which can help you organise trips.

They went out of their way to make a special dinner for my partner and I and they were very friendly.

The set menu’s and there was not a snack menu at the bar which I recommend. There was also not a lot of restaurant around the hotel so you didn’t have a lot of options to choose from.

Scenic charm

We loved the enthusiasm and friendliness of staff. Also excellent value for money in my opinion. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and the turn down service happened nightly. The front office workers were also helpful with all our needs. The garden is amazing, providing beautiful views throughout the property and attracts a troop of monkeys who aren't a nuisance. I personally loved that the property grows and utilises it own vegetables.

The beach is not swimmable at certain parts of the day.

Perfectly peaceful place!

In Filao we had our last three nights of vacation and it's just a perfect place to relax and recharge batteries before going home. Room was huge, perfectly clean, maybe not modern but everything was working just fine - Local TV, hairdryer, fridge, air conditioner. Also every night sprayed against mosquitos. All in includes three meals + desserts, brand soft drinks (try Tangawizi!), choice of alcohol - local beers, house wine, some coctails, one basic type of whiskey, vodka, tequila etc. During out stay food was served a la carte but it depends of the season. Lot of seafood and fishes in menu (calamari, octopus, etc). Except all inclusive prices are high so this is the most reasonable option. Staff was always caring and helpful, they'll do everything they can to make you happy.

Very relaxing within the spacious resort grounds.

Nice bungalows and beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Many nights they bring in local entertainment or have an event.

The beach tide is complicated and never very good for swimming. Also there are determined tour and souvenir sellers so you cannot easily relax on the beach. Far away from everything.

The staff were amazing from the time we arrived. Martha recieved us well and got us checked in, very freindly, helpful and welcoming. Ibrahim explained all the available tours they had on offer. The resturant staff were also so wonderful. A big thank you to Harouna, Theresa and their manager. Thank you to Peter, for the supprise dinner and beautiful romantic dinner setting in the garden on our final night.. To Fathma, and the housekerping team who were on top of things, servicing our room promptly. Very neat and clean.. Thank you to Mariam the massage therapist for the relaxing and professional service . To all the Barman who prepared our drinks, the entertainment team and finally to each and every staff member at Filao Beach Resort who contributed towards ensuring that we had such a wonderful stay and superb experience. Our deepest gratitude to all of you.

The beach was not ideal for swimming.

Filao is the perfect hotel if you’re looking to relax in a quiet, hidden spot

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! The rooms were beautifully clean and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was delicious. Every detail was perfect, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. On our last night, we were surprised with a special romantic dinner prepared by the hotel at the pool, which made our experience even more memorable. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

It’s not an area with the most beautiful beach you can find on Zanzibar. If you’re interested in experiencing the white sandy beach and the ocean, you can join a boat trip on some days and visit the neighboring hotel for a day of beach relaxation.

One of the best in Zanzibar

Food, Facilities, prices & Staff are perfect The manager changed our room after we asked for that They accept our request for a late checkout and give us a very special dinner for free when they know that we have a night flight.

The beach is not good you will not be able to swim because the water is very far. The ACs are very old and not working well.

Pearl Beach Resort, Michamvi, is a beautiful place to unwind and be pampered!

I need to say that this review is actually for Pearl Beach Resort Michamvi and not Filao Beach as we were moved to Pearl Beach because of repairs at Filao. This being said it was a really nice experience. We were there for 13 nights and were treated well by staff and management. It is a very special place and being upgraded to an Ocean View room was amazing. The food was fresh and tasty and a good choice of salads, main course and deserts in a buffet style. The all-inclusive package included a good range of wine and cocktails as well as fresh juices and water. Having been to Zanzibar three times, this was certainly the best all round accommodation and holiday package. Would love to return some day.

This could just be me being an older traveller but, I personally like to eat earlier than 1930 at night, on themed occasions it might be as late as 2030 before things got started. If I had the choice, I would bring the start of the evening meal an hour earlier but this is. a small suggestion and nothing to stop me from going again. Wifi in the rooms would be great too, but, again, its not a deal breaker!
